Sell-out hit of the Dublin Fringe Festival, 2001

Lady Susan
Directed by David Horan and Aoife Monks
Performed by Iseult Golden and Carmel Stephens
Adapted by Inis Theatre

'Dangerous Liaisons' meets 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane'

Based on Jane Austen's only novel-of-letters, Lady Susan is an hour long rollercoaster ride through a world of machinations, secrets and illicit liaisons set in the upper echelons of aristocratic society.

Lady Susan, beautiful, scheming and callous as hell, arrives impoverished at the country residence of her in-laws. She is unprepared, however, for the resolute antagonism of her sister-in-law.

Let the battle begin ...

With just two actors - Iseult Golden and Carmel Stephens - playing the entire cast of characters, this show is fast, furious and funny, motored by an eccentric and humorous sound score. Influenced by the traditions of music hall and melodrama, Inis Theatre drags Jane Austen, kicking and screaming into a very different drawing-room!

"Theatrical from start to finish." The Irish Times

"Warm, witty and engaging... kept me laughing from start to finish" The Sunday Tribune

"Carmel Stephens and Iseult Golden are equally excellent as mischievous
Lady Susan and her solid sister-in-law" Hot Press Magazine

"Stephens and Golden play the emotional scale like virtuosos, all the while
conveying a sense of fun that is a peasure to watch". The Irish Times
